The Splash Pad here at BGC Kawarthas is about to turn back on for the summer season.
Public hours it is open are Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. However, if you’re at the Club, you can bring a swimsuit this Friday. Friday at 10 a.m. is when the taps will officially turn back on, and for CLUB-specific programs, it will be running Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Turning the taps on comes at a cost to the Club. Each hour costs about $60 in water and sewer charges and additional costs. The splashpad uses over 2,358,000 gallons of water during the summer. That is equivalent to 56,142 bath tubs and about 218 12x24 pools. BGC Kawarthas Foundation is currently raising money for the water costs in their Turn on the Taps Campaign.
In inviting the public to use the Splash Pad, BGC Kawarthas also reminds people that,
- It is the responsibility of all users to adhere to public health guidelines;
- No dogs are allowed on the property;
- The Club is a non-smoking site;
- Shade umbrellas are recommended as shade is limited on the property
Looking forward to seeing you this summer!
